RRB Group D GK Questions 2026

Static GK is not a separate section in RRB Group D, but it decides most of the paper's recall marks. General Science is 25 questions of Physics, Chemistry and Life Sciences at 10th standard (CBSE) level as per CEN 09/2025, and the 20 General Awareness questions lean on the standing facts behind the news: the sport, the award, the institution, the state, the river or the scientist an event touches. This page holds GK24's topic-wise GK notes for RRB Group D. The General Science notes go topic by topic through motion and force, work, energy and power, gravitation, heat, light, sound, electricity and magnetism, atomic structure and the periodic table, chemical reactions, acids, bases and salts, metals and non-metals, and carbon compounds, and the Life Sciences notes cover cells, the human body, nutrition, diseases, plants and genetics. The static GK notes cover Indian Railways zones and facts, national symbols, first and largest in India and the world, awards and honours, important days, books and authors, sports GK, art and culture, and the basics of Indian Polity, Geography, History and the Economy. Each note is short facts and tables that can be revised in one sitting. Read a note, then solve its quiz and the previous-year questions on this site to check what stayed.

Q3902.General ScienceAsked in: RRB Group D · 17 Dec, 2025, Shift 3Easy

Which of the following belongs to the alkyne group?

  1. A.C3H4
  2. B.C2H4
  3. C.C3H8
  4. D.C6H6
Show answer
Correct answer: A. C3H4

C3H4 is propyne, and it fits the alkyne general formula CnH2n-2 when n equals 3. Alkynes are unsaturated hydrocarbons that carry at least one carbon-to-carbon triple bond, and the first member of the family is ethyne, C2H2, better known as acetylene and burnt with oxygen in welding torches.

Which of the following represents alkenes?

  1. A.—C = C—
  2. B.—C—C—
  3. C.H—O—H
  4. D.O = C = O
Show answer
Correct answer: A. —C = C—

An alkene is an unsaturated hydrocarbon in which two carbon atoms are joined by a double bond, so the carbon-to-carbon double bond is its identity.

Where are the elements of the d-block found?

  1. A.Only the 18th group
  2. B.Only the elements of group 8
  3. C.The 9th group elements
  4. D.Between the 2nd and the 13th group (groups 3 to 12)
Show answer
Correct answer: D. Between the 2nd and the 13th group (groups 3 to 12)

The d-block sits in the middle of the periodic table, bridging the s-block on the left and the p-block on the right.

Which of the following is NOT correct about the revised exempted FASTag framework?

  1. A.Validity depends on the recorded percentage of disability
  2. B.A UDID Card is among the accepted records
  3. C.The exempted FASTag must still be renewed every year
  4. D.Vehicles registered under the Divyangjan ownership type are covered
Show answer
Correct answer: C. The exempted FASTag must still be renewed every year

Earlier guidelines made annual renewal compulsory; the new framework sets validity by the recorded percentage of disability so that beneficiaries are spared repeated formalities.

On which national highway section is the Paranur Toll Plaza situated?

  1. A.Surat-Bharuch section of NH-48
  2. B.Tambaram-Tindivanam section of NH-179B
  3. C.Panipat-Jalandhar section of NH-44
  4. D.Urban Extension Road-II in Delhi-NCR
Show answer
Correct answer: B. Tambaram-Tindivanam section of NH-179B

That is where Paranur Toll Plaza stands, and it is the stretch on which Tamil Nadu received its first barrier-less tolling arrangement from the National Highways Authority of India.

Q3912.NationalMedium

The Multi-Lane Free Flow tolling system identifies a passing vehicle mainly through which technology?

  1. A.Automatic Number Plate Recognition
  2. B.Global Positioning System tracking of each vehicle
  3. C.Radio broadcast of the chassis number
  4. D.Manual entry of the registration number by toll staff
Show answer
Correct answer: A. Automatic Number Plate Recognition

Cameras at the plaza read the registration plate of every vehicle that crosses, and the FASTag-based Electronic Toll Collection system then debits the user fee from the account linked to that vehicle.

Q3913.NationalEasy

At which toll plaza has Tamil Nadu's first Multi-Lane Free Flow (MLFF) tolling system been started?

  1. A.Chorayasi Toll Plaza
  2. B.Gharaunda Toll Plaza
  3. C.Paranur Toll Plaza
  4. D.Manoharpura Toll Plaza
Show answer
Correct answer: C. Paranur Toll Plaza

It lies on the Tambaram-Tindivanam section of NH-179B and has become the first location in Tamil Nadu where the National Highways Authority of India charges toll without a boom barrier, letting vehicles roll through while cameras and FASTag settle the fee.

Q3914.General ScienceAsked in: RRB Group D · 31 Oct 2018, Shift 2Easy

Alkenes, unsaturated hydrocarbons containing a double bond between two carbon atoms, have a general formula, which is:

  1. A.CnH2n+2
  2. B.CnH2n-1
  3. C.CnH2n+1
  4. D.CnH2n
Show answer
Correct answer: D. CnH2n

An alkene carries one carbon-to-carbon double bond, and that bond uses up two hydrogen atoms that a saturated chain would have held, so the formula drops from CnH2n+2 to CnH2n. Putting n equal to 2 gives C2H4, ethene, the simplest alkene; n equal to 3 gives C3H6, propene.

Q3915.General ScienceAsked in: RRB Group D · 16 Oct 2018, Shift 1Easy

The general formula of alkane is:

  1. A.CnH2n-2
  2. B.CnH2n+2
  3. C.CnH3n-3
  4. D.CnH2n
Show answer
Correct answer: B. CnH2n+2

Alkanes are saturated hydrocarbons in which carbon atoms are joined only by single bonds, and such a chain carries the largest possible number of hydrogen atoms, given by CnH2n+2.

Q3917.General ScienceAsked in: RRB Group D · 04 Feb 2026, Shift 1Easy

Which of the following is a characteristic property of ionic compounds?

  1. A.Strong electrostatic forces between ions
  2. B.Low melting point
  3. C.Insoluble in water
  4. D.Poor electrical conductivity in molten state
Show answer
Correct answer: A. Strong electrostatic forces between ions

An ionic compound is a lattice of positive and negative ions held by strong electrostatic attraction, and that force explains all its other properties.

Q3918.General ScienceAsked in: RRB Group D · 14 Dec 2025, Shift 3Easy

  3. C.Transfer of electrons
  4. D.Gain of neutrons
Show answer
Correct answer: A. Sharing of electrons

A covalent bond is formed when two atoms share one or more pairs of electrons so that each completes its outermost shell.
