RRB Group D GK Questions 2026

Static GK is not a separate section in RRB Group D, but it decides most of the paper's recall marks. General Science is 25 questions of Physics, Chemistry and Life Sciences at 10th standard (CBSE) level as per CEN 09/2025, and the 20 General Awareness questions lean on the standing facts behind the news: the sport, the award, the institution, the state, the river or the scientist an event touches. This page holds GK24's topic-wise GK notes for RRB Group D. The General Science notes go topic by topic through motion and force, work, energy and power, gravitation, heat, light, sound, electricity and magnetism, atomic structure and the periodic table, chemical reactions, acids, bases and salts, metals and non-metals, and carbon compounds, and the Life Sciences notes cover cells, the human body, nutrition, diseases, plants and genetics. The static GK notes cover Indian Railways zones and facts, national symbols, first and largest in India and the world, awards and honours, important days, books and authors, sports GK, art and culture, and the basics of Indian Polity, Geography, History and the Economy. Each note is short facts and tables that can be revised in one sitting. Read a note, then solve its quiz and the previous-year questions on this site to check what stayed.

Q2001.General ScienceAsked in: CDS · CDS-II 2018, GKEasy

Which of the following characteristics is common to hydrogen, nitrogen, oxygen and carbon dioxide?

  1. A.They are all diatomic.
  2. B.They are all gases at room temperature.
  3. C.They are all coloured.
  4. D.They all have same reactivity.
Show answer
Correct answer: B. They are all gases at room temperature.

Hydrogen, nitrogen, oxygen and carbon dioxide all exist as gases at about 25 °C and normal atmospheric pressure. Hydrogen boils at about −253 °C, nitrogen at −196 °C and oxygen at −183 °C, so all three are gases at room temperature.

Consider the following statements about the microphone and the speaker of a mobile phone: 1. The microphone converts sound to a mechanical signal. 2. The microphone converts sound to an electrical signal. 3. The speaker converts a mechanical signal to sound. 4. The speaker converts an electrical signal to sound. Which of the statements given above are correct?

  1. A.1 and 3
  2. B.1 and 4
  3. C.2 and 3
  4. D.2 and 4
Show answer
Correct answer: D. 2 and 4

A microphone turns sound into an electrical signal, and a speaker turns an electrical signal back into sound. Both are transducers, devices that change energy from one form to another.

Q2007.General ScienceAsked in: CDS · CDS-II 2023, GKMedium

Which one of the following equations is the balanced chemical equation for the given reaction? Fe + H2O → Fe3O4 + H2

  1. A.Fe + 4H2O → Fe3O4 + H2
  2. B.3Fe + H2O → Fe3O4 + 2H2
  3. C.3Fe + 4H2O → Fe3O4 + 4H2
  4. D.3Fe + 4H2O → Fe3O4 + H2
Show answer
Correct answer: C. 3Fe + 4H2O → Fe3O4 + 4H2

Only this equation has the same number of iron, hydrogen and oxygen atoms on both sides. Iron reacts with steam to form iron(II,III) oxide and hydrogen gas.

Q2009.General ScienceAsked in: CDS · CDS-II 2024, GKEasy

Which organelle in animal cells can digest foreign materials?

  1. A.Endoplasmic reticulum
  2. B.Lysosome
  3. C.Golgi body
  4. D.Mitochondria
Show answer
Correct answer: B. Lysosome

Lysosomes are membrane-bound sacs of digestive enzymes that break down foreign material such as bacteria and worn-out cell parts. Lysosomes are formed by the Golgi apparatus and contain hydrolytic enzymes that work in an acidic interior.

Q2013.General ScienceAsked in: UPSC CAPF · CAPF 2018, Paper IEasy

Which one of the following statements regarding digestion is correct?

  1. A.Fat present in the food is digested by trypsin and chymotrypsin.
  2. B.Starch of food is digested by lipases.
  3. C.Fat of food is digested by lipases.
  4. D.Nucleic acid is digested by amylases.
Show answer
Correct answer: C. Fat of food is digested by lipases.

Lipases split fats into fatty acids and glycerol. Fat digestion happens mainly in the small intestine.

Q2014.General ScienceAsked in: UPSC CAPF · CAPF 2021, Paper IEasy

Which one of the following statements about life processes in single-celled organisms is not correct?

  1. A.They require separate organ for food uptake.
  2. B.Separate organ is not needed for respiration.
  3. C.Waste of excretory material is produced by these organisms.
  4. D.They remain in contact with external environment.
Show answer
Correct answer: A. They require separate organ for food uptake.

A single-celled organism has no organs at all; the one cell takes in food through its surface or by forming temporary structures.

Which one of the following is not a function of chlorophyll?

  1. A.Splitting of water
  2. B.Absorption of photon
  3. C.Oxidation of carbohydrate
  4. D.Conversion of light energy into chemical energy
Show answer
Correct answer: C. Oxidation of carbohydrate

Breaking down carbohydrates to release energy is respiration, which happens in the cytoplasm and mitochondria, not a job of chlorophyll.

Which one of the following statements about blood elements is correct?

  1. A.Red blood cells' number is same as that of white blood cells and platelets.
  2. B.The number of white blood cells is more than red blood cells.
  3. C.The number of red blood cells is the highest.
  4. D.The number of red blood cells is lower than platelets.
Show answer
Correct answer: C. The number of red blood cells is the highest.

Red blood cells far outnumber both platelets and white blood cells. A microlitre of healthy adult blood holds about 4.5 to 5.5 million red blood cells, about 1.5 to 4.5 lakh platelets and only about 4,000 to 11,000 white blood cells.

The Soda-acid fire extinguisher contains

  1. A.sulphuric acid and solution of sodium hydrogencarbonate
  2. B.nitric acid and solution of sodium hydrogencarbonate
  3. C.sulphuric acid and solution of sodium carbonate
  4. D.sulphuric acid and solution of potassium carbonate
Show answer
Correct answer: A. sulphuric acid and solution of sodium hydrogencarbonate

When the two mix, they release a rush of carbon dioxide that pushes water out onto the fire. In a soda-acid extinguisher a small bottle of dilute sulphuric acid sits inside a cylinder filled with a solution of sodium hydrogencarbonate (baking soda, NaHCO3).
