Which body instituted the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar?
- A.Lalit Kala Akademi
- B.Sahitya Akademi
- C.Sangeet Natak Akademi
- D.National School of Drama
Correct answer
Explanation
The correct answer is the Sangeet Natak Akademi, the national academy for music, dance and drama, which created the Yuva Puraskar in 2006 for artists up to the age of 40 and has conferred it every year since at a ceremony reserved for young performers. Option A, the Lalit Kala Akademi, is wrong because it is the national academy of visual arts and deals with painting and sculpture rather than the performing arts. Option B, the Sahitya Akademi, is wrong since it is concerned with literature and its honours go to writers and translators. Option D, the National School of Drama, is wrong because it is a training institution for theatre and does not administer this award. Candidates should also remember that the Akademi General Council makes the selection and that its chairman presides over the award ceremony.
