Lava , the Urdu poetry collection that won the Sahitya Akademi Award in 2013, was written by whom?
- A.Gulzar
- B.Nida Fazli
- C.Javed Akhtar
- D.Shahryar
Correct answer
Explanation
The correct answer is C, Javed Akhtar. The lyricist and screenwriter published the collection Tarkash earlier and followed it with Lava, for which the Sahitya Akademi honoured him in Urdu in 2013. Option A, Gulzar, is wrong for this question because his Sahitya Akademi Award came in 2002 for the short-story collection Dhuan. Option B, Nida Fazli, is a real poet who also wrote film lyrics and holds a Sahitya Akademi Award, but not for this book. Option D, Shahryar, is wrong here; he wrote the lyrics of Umrao Jaan and received the Jnanpith Award for 2008, which is a different honour altogether. Note also that Javed Akhtar is remembered as half of the Salim-Javed writing pair, which papers use as a second route into the same name.
