NDA GK Questions 2026

Static general knowledge makes up about 90% of Part B of the NDA General Ability Test, about 360 of its 400 marks. The NDA & NA (II) 2026 notice divides it into five sections: Physics (about 25%), Chemistry (about 15%), General Science (about 10%), History, Freedom Movement etc. (about 20%) and Geography (about 20%). Half of Part B is science. Physics covers matter, motion, gravitation, heat, sound, light, magnetism, electricity and the working of everyday devices such as the siphon, pressure cooker, periscope and safety fuse. Chemistry covers changes of matter, elements and compounds, common gases, acids, bases and salts, carbon, fertilizers and the materials used to make soap, glass, cement and gunpowder. General Science covers cells, the human body, diseases, diet, the solar system and eminent scientists. Section D spans Indian history and culture, the freedom movement, the Constitution, Five Year Plans, Panchayati Raj and world history from the Renaissance to the Russian Revolution. Geography covers the Earth, rocks, oceans, the atmosphere and climate, and India's resources, industries, ports and trade. This page holds GK24's topic-wise GK notes for NDA, in English and Hindi, written as short facts and tables. Read a topic, then solve its quiz and previous-year questions on this site.

NDA GK Questions with Answers

Q4261.General ScienceMedium

Which of the following is a thermoplastic?

  1. A.Bakelite
  2. B.Melamine-formaldehyde
  3. C.Polyvinyl chloride
  4. D.Urea-formaldehyde
Show answer
Correct answer: C. Polyvinyl chloride

Polyvinyl chloride has linear chains held to one another only by weak forces, so it softens when heated and hardens when cooled and can be melted and moulded again and again; that reversibility is what makes a plastic thermoplastic, and it is also what allows such plastics to be recycled…

Q4262.General ScienceEasy

Which substance is added to natural rubber during vulcanisation?

  1. A.Carbon
  2. B.Sulphur
  3. C.Phosphorus
  4. D.Silicon
Show answer
Correct answer: B. Sulphur

Vulcanisation is the heating of raw rubber with sulphur, which forms short cross-links between the long isoprene chains. Raw rubber is soft, sticky when warm and brittle when cold; the vulcanised product is strong, far more elastic and stable over a wide range of temperature.

Q4263.General ScienceHard

Nylon-6,6 is obtained by the condensation polymerisation of

  1. A.Caprolactam alone
  2. B.Hexamethylenediamine and adipic acid
  3. C.Ethylene glycol and terephthalic acid
  4. D.Phenol and formaldehyde
Show answer
Correct answer: B. Hexamethylenediamine and adipic acid

Nylon-6,6 is a polyamide formed when hexamethylenediamine condenses with adipic acid, with a molecule of water eliminated at each linkage; the name records that each monomer contributes a chain of six carbon atoms.

Q4264.General ScienceMedium

Teflon, used to coat non-stick cookware, is a polymer of

  1. A.Tetrafluoroethene
  2. B.Chloroprene
  3. C.Styrene
  4. D.Caprolactam
Show answer
Correct answer: A. Tetrafluoroethene

Teflon is polytetrafluoroethene, made by the addition polymerisation of tetrafluoroethene. The fluorine atoms shield the carbon chain so completely that the surface is chemically inert, water repellent and almost frictionless, and it holds its properties to high temperature, which is why it coats frying pans and is used for gaskets…

Q4266.General ScienceEasy

The monomer of polythene is

  1. A.Ethyne
  2. B.Ethene
  3. C.Propene
  4. D.Vinyl chloride
Show answer
Correct answer: B. Ethene

Polythene, also written polyethene, is formed by the addition polymerisation of ethene, in which the double bond of each molecule opens and the units join into a long chain with nothing eliminated.

Q4267.General ScienceAsked in: Uttar Pradesh · UPPSC Civil Service 2017 Official Paper Easy

Which one of the following is a natural polymer?

  1. A.Bakelite
  2. B.Silk
  3. C.Kevlar
  4. D.Lexan
Show answer
Correct answer: B. Silk

Silk is the protein fibroin, spun by the silkworm, so it is a polymer made by a living organism and is therefore natural, like cellulose, starch, wool and natural rubber.

Q4271.General ScienceMedium

The electrolyte used in a lead-acid storage battery is

  1. A.dilute sulphuric acid
  2. B.concentrated nitric acid
  3. C.a paste of ammonium chloride
  4. D.potassium hydroxide solution
Show answer
Correct answer: A. dilute sulphuric acid

The lead-acid cell has a spongy lead negative plate and a lead dioxide positive plate dipped in dilute sulphuric acid, and as the cell discharges both plates turn to lead sulphate while the acid becomes weaker, which is why its state of charge can be judged from the specific gravity…

Q4272.General ScienceMedium

In a common dry cell, the anode is made of

  1. A.copper
  2. B.graphite
  3. C.zinc
  4. D.manganese dioxide
Show answer
Correct answer: C. zinc

In the Leclanche dry cell the outer container itself is made of zinc and acts as the anode, being oxidised to zinc ions as the cell works, which is why an old cell often leaks when the container is eaten through.

Q4273.General ScienceEasy

Which of the following is a secondary cell?

  1. A.Dry cell
  2. B.Lead-acid cell
  3. C.Daniell cell
  4. D.Mercury button cell
Show answer
Correct answer: B. Lead-acid cell

Its reaction is reversible, so passing a current through it in the opposite direction converts the products back into lead and lead dioxide and the cell can be used again; such a cell is called a secondary or storage cell, and the car battery is the common example.

Q4274.General ScienceMedium

In the electrolysis of brine, that is a concentrated solution of common salt, the gas liberated at the anode is

  1. A.hydrogen
  2. B.oxygen
  3. C.chlorine
  4. D.carbon dioxide
Show answer
Correct answer: C. chlorine

In the chlor-alkali process a concentrated solution of sodium chloride is electrolysed; chloride ions are oxidised at the anode and come off as chlorine gas, hydrogen is set free at the cathode, and sodium hydroxide remains in the solution, which is why the industry yields three useful products at once.

Q4276.General ScienceMedium

The quantity of electricity known as one faraday is approximately

  1. A.9,650 coulombs
  2. B.96,500 coulombs
  3. C.1,600 coulombs
  4. D.6,023 coulombs
Show answer
Correct answer: B. 96,500 coulombs

One faraday is the charge carried by one mole of electrons, obtained by multiplying the charge on a single electron by the Avogadro number, and it comes to about 96,500 coulombs; passing one faraday through an electrolyte liberates one gram equivalent of the substance at an electrode.

Q4280.DefenceEasy

Which of the following statements about Mangrol is correct?

  1. A.It is a nuclear-powered submarine
  2. B.It has over 80 per cent indigenous content and uses waterjet propulsion
  3. C.It is an aircraft carrier of the Western Naval Command
  4. D.It is a survey vessel built for the Coast Guard
Show answer
Correct answer: B. It has over 80 per cent indigenous content and uses waterjet propulsion

More than four-fifths of the craft is of Indian origin, and it is propelled by three diesel engines that drive waterjets, which gives it the agility needed in shallow waters.
