VB-G RAM G Grievance Redressal Rules, 2026 Notified for Rural Jobs
The Rural Development Ministry notified grievance rules under the VB-G RAM G Act, fixing an enquiry limit of seven working days and resolution within 15 days.

Why in News
On 2 November 2026 the Ministry of Rural Development notified the VB-G RAM G Grievance Redressal Rules, 2026, setting up a three-tier, time-bound and digitally tracked system for complaints about the rural employment mission.
The Ministry of Rural Development has notified the VB-G RAM G Grievance Redressal Rules, 2026. VB-G RAM G stands for the Viksit Bharat - Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin), the rural employment scheme that replaced the earlier rural jobs guarantee. The new rules create a layered, time-bound route for anyone who has a complaint about how the scheme is being run.
Three levels of redressal
State governments must set up the machinery at three levels: the Gram Panchayat, the Block and the District. Grievance Redressal Officers named at each level will receive a complaint, register it, enquire into it and dispose of it. At the district level the District Programme Coordinator has been made responsible for supervising the process and for seeing that complaints travel through the designated machinery and the digital platform.
Four ways to complain
- In person before the designated Grievance Redressal Officer
- By speed post, with proof of delivery
- Through the Digital Public Infrastructure for grievance redressal notified by the Centre
- By telephone, on a designated helpline, or any other route a state government allows
A paper complaint handed in at a Gram Panchayat, Block or District office has to be entered on the digital platform the same day, and if that is not possible, by the next working day. The complainant then gets an acknowledgement carrying the registration number, the date the complaint was received and the designation of the officer who received it. Crucially, no complaint may be turned away because of its format, the language used, the way it was submitted or any procedural shortcoming.
The clock on every complaint
| Stage | Time limit |
| Enquiry to be completed | Seven working days from receipt |
| Grievance to be resolved | 15 days from receipt |
| If unresolved | Escalated to the next higher level |
While enquiring, the officer may call for records, registers, documents, reports or electronic data from any authority or functionary of the scheme. Where needed, the complainant must be given a fair chance to be heard, either face to face or by electronic means, before the matter is closed. Findings and the action taken go on the digital platform and are conveyed to the complainant, in paper form as well if the complaint arrived on paper.
Tracking, escalation and appeal
The platform allows a complaint to be followed from registration to final disposal, which the ministry says will tighten transparency and accountability. Anything still unresolved after the 15 day window moves up to the next higher authority, which must examine it and act, and such cases stay under electronic watch until they are settled. Appeals against orders passed under this machinery will be filed and decided as laid down in Schedule I to the VB-G RAM G Act, 2025.
