Why in News
On 17 October 2026 the Ministry of Ayush announced that the All India Institute of Ayurveda, New Delhi, had marked its 10th Foundation Day as KAUMARACON 2026 concluded, with two MoUs signed and more than 15 publications launched.
The All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA), New Delhi, observed its 10th Foundation Day on the closing day of KAUMARACON 2026, a three-day international conference on Kaumarabhritya hosted by the institute’s Department of Kaumarabhritya. Kaumarabhritya is the branch of Ayurveda that deals with the health of children. The ceremony marked a decade of the institute’s work in teaching, research, clinical care and partnerships abroad.
Two agreements signed
Two Memorandums of Understanding were signed at the ceremony, one with Rashtriya Ayurved Vidyapeeth and the other with Arogya Bharati, so that institutions may work together and share what they know about Ayurveda. Under the first of these, the Department of Kaumarbhritya on the Delhi and Goa campuses has been recognised as a Centre of Excellence for Rashtriya Ayurveda Vidyapeeth. The recognition takes in training and standard operating procedures, rights over intellectual property and the building of capacity in policy research. One stated aim is an SOP for Swarnaprashan Samskar, to be drawn up through expert consultations and to settle how the formulation is standardised and prepared, what dose suits a child’s age and strength, and how safety, quality control and record-keeping are handled.
Launched on Foundation Day
- More than 15 academic publications and teaching resources
- A new institute website built to the Digital Brand Identity Manual (DBIM) standard
- An e-course called Foundations of Entrepreneurship and Startup Development for Ayush Professionals, shortened to FESDAP
- A textbook on research methodology and medical statistics, and an eBook on the institute’s own journey titled Rooted and Rising
Guests and global reach
Lok Sabha Member of Parliament Ramvir Singh Bidhuri was the chief guest and said he had watched the institute grow from 2016 to 2026. Padma Bhushan Vaidya Devendra Triguna and Prof. Abhimanyu Kumar, a former Director of AIIA, were guests of honour, and the institute’s Director, Prof. (Vd.) P. K. Prajapati, was present. A separate international agreement between AIIA Goa and Maharishi International University in Fairfield, Iowa, in the United States, provides for an Academic Chair in Ayurveda in that university’s Department of Physiology and Health, along with curriculum development, short courses and joint research. Specialists from the United Kingdom, Sri Lanka, Germany, Nepal, Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Italy and the United States spoke in the session on traditional, complementary and integrative medicine in child health. AIIA Goa also runs PRAYAS, a paediatric neurorehabilitation centre whose team treats children with autism spectrum disorder, cerebral palsy and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.
