CBN Holds Five Mission Yuva Raksha Drug Camps in MP

Why in News

The Ministry of Finance announced on 17 October 2026 that the Central Bureau of Narcotics, Madhya Pradesh Unit, had conducted five drug awareness programmes under Mission Yuva Raksha in educational institutions across five towns of the State.

The Central Bureau of Narcotics (CBN), which works under the Ministry of Finance, has held five drug awareness programmes in educational institutions of Madhya Pradesh under Mission Yuva Raksha. The programmes took place in October 2026 at Neemuch, Jaora, Jawad, Mandsaur and Garoth, and were built around drug prevention, healthy living and the goal of a Nasha Mukt Bharat.

Where the camps were held

  • On 5 October, about 200 students and teachers of the Swami Vivekanand Government PG College at Neemuch attended a session on the harm done by drugs.
  • On 13 October, around 200 students and faculty along with 25 staff members took part at the Sardar Patel College of Nursing in Jaora.
  • On 15 October, roughly 450 students and teachers of the CM Rise Government School at Jawad attended a programme held with the Brahma Kumaris of Neemuch.
  • The same day, the Mandsaur-I Division of the unit held a camp for nearly 450 students of the CM Rise School at Sabakheda in Mandsaur.
  • Also on 15 October, the office of the District Opium Officer at Garoth, working with the Brahma Kumaris, reached about 230 students of the Sanskar Valley Higher Secondary School.

What the sessions covered

Participants were told, on a scientific basis, how drug use damages physical and mental health and how it affects schooling, family life and careers. The format was not a lecture alone. Awareness talks were mixed with question and answer competitions, educational videos, presentations, meditation and poster making, so that students took part rather than only listened.

The pledge

Students were urged to resist drugs, to choose a healthy way of living and to work for a drug free society. At the end of the sessions they took a pledge to stay away from drugs and to carry the message to their schools, families and neighbourhoods.

Why the agency does this

The Central Bureau of Narcotics is better known for enforcement and for regulating licit opium cultivation, so prevention work of this kind sits alongside its policing duties. By going into colleges and schools, the agency is working on the demand side of the problem, in line with the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, and is trying to turn students themselves into carriers of the message in their communities.
