SSC CHSL Weekly Current Affairs Quiz: 31 August – 6 September 2026

The correct answer is the fifth edition, written in official papers as SSSS v.5.0. The release says the campaign builds on its success over the last four years, which is the internal check an aspirant can apply: four earlier editions plus the one being launched makes this the fifth. Dr Jitendra Singh, Minister of State with Independent Charge for Earth Sciences, launched it, and the Ministry of Earth Sciences runs it. The week itself falls from 12 to 19 September 2026. Option B is the trap for anyone who counts only the completed editions and forgets to add the new one, and options A and D are placed on either side of the answer for the same reason. A safer way to hold the fact is through the official name: the campaign is styled 5.0, and the version number is the edition number.

The correct answer is ₹1 lakh crore. The release refers throughout to the ₹1 lakh crore Research, Development and Innovation Fund, and it is the size of that corpus that makes the Minister's appeal for outreach necessary: thousands of applications are arriving, some from applicants who do not appear to understand what the fund is for. He cautioned against treating it as merely another source of finance or as a conventional loan facility, and said its purpose is to support technology development and research in a manner that contributes to scientific progress and to the growth of the national economy. The wrong options are round figures of the kind that attach to individual schemes, but the number to remember for this fund is one lakh crore rupees. Note also that the fund extends support at a later stage, described as TRL4 level.

The correct answer is 180 days. The award for the year 2024 went to four people, so the total money involved comes to sixty lakh rupees. The President of India will confer the awards at Rashtrapati Bhavan along with the National Sports Awards for 2025, on a date that the Ministry said will be announced separately.

The correct answer is 86. The release calls the response encouraging and puts the number of nominations received from across the country at that figure. The Minister praised its record in carrying work from laboratory to market, and named Skyroot and BotLab as examples of firms it has supported beyond narrowly defined domains. He also said TDB was the first to roll out proposals under the RDI Fund, and that it should now support technology development in the early phase as well as at the later stage. Options A and B therefore name real parameters, which is exactly why they mislead; the question asks which one stood highest. Option D is not a parameter at all in this framework. Special emphasis was also laid on quality, sustainability, effectiveness and whether a practice could be replicated more widely across the National Highway network, and each entry had to supply geo-tagged photographs, drone videos and survival-rate data.

The correct answer is more than 34.56 crore. That is the total reach of the campaign as stated in the release. The two smaller figures in options A and B are real but are subsets of the total, and they are the traps that cost marks: over 13.71 crore of those reached are youth and over 10.65 crore are women. Option C is invented. A candidate should therefore read whether the question asks for the total, the youth figure or the women's figure. One more number belongs in the same group and is asked just as often: more than 1.64 lakh Nasha Mukti Mitras have joined the campaign to strengthen community participation, and a citizen may register as one through the Department's official website. The correct answer is the Ocean Olympiad, described in the release as the first-ever national event of its kind under the campaign. It is aimed at students and young people and is meant to build awareness of the environment; citizens can register for it and test their knowledge of the seas. The other options are activities that the week really does include, which makes them plausible, but none of them is presented as a first. Marathons, a human chain and cycling rallies are listed among the engagement activities, alongside beach clean-up drives at more than 100 locations and programmes tied to ozone day. Along with the Olympiad, the launch covered an official ocean conservation pledge, the campaign website, an introductory video, a video on the schedule of activities and the SAGAR PRAHARI mobile application.

The correct answer is more than half. The Minister said start-ups are not confined to Bengaluru or Hyderabad and that more than 50 per cent of them come from smaller towns, a figure he used while asking for prevailing myths about entrepreneurship to be dispelled. Each of these stays continuously traceable to the IST that CSIR-NPL maintains, which together creates a distributed national architecture for spreading the time. The point of spreading it is resilience: if dissemination depended on a single location, one failure would leave the country without a traceable reference. The five laboratories, along with ISRO's NavIC satellite system and the time dissemination infrastructure of NPL and NIC, add capacity and geographical diversity. Options A, C and D are not supported by the release. A memory aid is that the cities are spread across the west, south, east, north and north-east of the country.

The correct answer is Lifetime Achievement. The list approved by the Government places Shiv Prasad Chamoli in that category, which honours a sustained record in adventure rather than one outstanding feat. The release explains that the Ministry runs a comprehensive and evidence-based strategy under the National Action Plan for Drug Demand Reduction, and that the strategy is based on the findings of the first National Survey on the Extent and Pattern of Substance Use in India, carried out by that centre. Options A and C name agencies associated with crime statistics and with narcotics enforcement, which sound plausible in a drug-related question but belong to a different ministry and a different function. Aspirants often carry an older coastline figure in memory from school textbooks, and option A is placed there precisely to catch that habit; for this question the number to reproduce is the one the Minister used in this launch. The rest of the campaign facts sit around it: the fifth edition, the dates of 12 to 19 September 2026, the Ministry of Earth Sciences as the organiser, clean-up drives at more than 100 locations and the first national Ocean Olympiad.

The correct answer is TRL4. Speaking about what lies ahead, the Minister noted that the RDI Fund is offering support at a later stage, at the TRL4 level, and that the Technology Development Board was the first to roll out its proposals under the fund. He argued that the board should support technology development both in the early phase and at this later stage, so that promising work is not left without backing at either end.
