RRB NTPC Current Affairs Quiz: 4 October 2026

The correct answer is Silver. The Indian women's side finished second in the team golf event at the Asian Games 2026, and the Prime Minister congratulated Aditi Ashok, Pranavi Sharath Urs and Diksha Dagar on winning the silver medal. Option A, gold, is wrong because a gold would mean the Indian team topped the event; the congratulatory message names a silver, not a gold. Option C, bronze, is wrong because bronze goes to the third-placed team, while India came second in this competition. Option D is wrong because a fourth place would carry no medal at all, and the reason the result reached the news was precisely that India had won a medal in golf. The point to remember is the pairing: women's team golf and a silver medal for India at these Games.

The correct answer is Swachhata Mein Sabhag, Swachh Bharat, Viksit Bharat. This was the theme under which the fortnight-long campaign ran at the All India Institute of Ayurveda from 17 September to 2 October 2026, and it ties participation in cleanliness to the larger goals of a clean and a developed India. Option A is a slogan commonly linked with health drives but was not the theme of this campaign. Option C is an English phrase of the kind used in general environmental messaging and is not the theme named here. Option D is an invented campaign title. Aspirants should note that themes change every year even when the name of the campaign stays the same, so the year and the theme must always be revised as a pair rather than separately.

The correct answer is Sam, in the Desert National Park of Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. The Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Bhupender Yadav, freed two male Great Indian Bustards at that spot, with the Rajasthan Minister for Forest and Environment, Sanjay Sharma, and senior officers of the Union and State governments present. Tal Chhapar Sanctuary in Churu is wrong, because the release took place inside the Desert National Park and the announcement names no other protected area in Rajasthan for it. Ramdevra is wrong as a release site: along with Sam it houses the conservation-breeding facilities that between them hold the captive birds, and the two males were let out into open desert rather than kept at a centre. The Kachchh Bustard Sanctuary in Gujarat is wrong as well; Gujarat enters this story only through the jumpstart trial, in which two chicks hatched from captive-laid eggs placed in wild nests.

The correct answer is Ekta Nagar in the Narmada district of Gujarat. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways is holding its two-day Chintan Shivir there on 5 and 6 October 2026, bringing together senior representatives of the Centre, the States and the agencies that carry out highway work. Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi is wrong, since the venue named for this conclave lies in Gujarat and not in the national capital. Pune in Maharashtra is wrong for the same reason; no part of the programme has been placed there. Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh is wrong as well, and the Shivir is not being held in that State. The point of meeting outside Delhi is to let State ministers, State Public Works Department officials and implementing agencies exchange field-level experience with the Centre in one place.

The correct answer is Golf. All three athletes were part of the Indian women's team in the team golf event, and the Prime Minister's congratulatory message names golf as the sport in which the silver medal came. Option A, archery, is wrong: no archery result is attached to these three names in the news of the day. Option B, shooting, is wrong for the same reason, even though shooting is a sport India regularly medals in at the Asian Games. Option D, squash, is also wrong. Aspirants often mix up the names of athletes across disciplines, so it helps to store the trio together as a golf team rather than as three separate sportspersons, and to remember that their medal came in the team event and not in an individual competition.

The correct answer is e-waste. After the Swachhata Hi Seva campaign ended, the All India Institute of Ayurveda moved on to Special Campaign 6.0, which was already under way and continues till 31 October 2026 with the theme of collecting, segregating and disposing of electronic waste effectively. Option A, plastic waste, is wrong as a theme, although avoidance of single-use plastics was indeed one of the subjects of the awareness talks held for patients during the earlier campaign. Option B, biomedical waste, is wrong here even though the host is a hospital and institute of Ayurveda. Option D is also wrong. The examinable pairing is Special Campaign 6.0 with e-waste, and the closing date of 31 October 2026. Note also that the campaign is run by the same institute that had just completed its Swachhata Hi Seva drive, so the two campaigns and their two themes should be revised together rather than in isolation.

The correct answer is 97. The two conservation-breeding facilities at Sam and Ramdevra together hold 97 Great Indian Bustards, and that total is made up of two streams of birds. 40 is wrong on its own because that is only the count of birds that began as eggs collected from the wild, not the whole population at the centres. 57 is wrong for the mirror reason: it counts the birds hatched and raised in captivity, the second stream that makes up the same total. 86 is wrong because it is the number of birds held back for captive reproduction, which leaves 11 birds earmarked for release into the wild; the two males freed in the Desert National Park were drawn from those 11. Captive reproduction at these centres gave 24 live chicks in 2025 and 29 in 2026.

The correct answer is five. The conclave is built around five thematic sessions: PM GatiShakti and integrated infrastructure planning; Land Acquisition and Bhoomi Rashi; Model Concession Agreements and Ratings; Designing Safe Highways; and Quality Assurance and Project Monitoring. Three is wrong because it leaves out two of the named themes, and the ministry has listed all five as key sessions of the two-day programme. Four is wrong for the same reason, since dropping any one of the listed subjects would mean leaving out either the contract side, the land side, the safety side, the planning side or the monitoring side of highway work. Six is wrong because no sixth subject has been announced for the Shivir. Each session is meant to end in practical, repeatable answers rather than general discussion.

The correct answer is women's team golf. Diksha Dagar was in the three-member Indian line-up, along with Aditi Ashok and Pranavi Sharath Urs, that took the silver medal in the women's team golf event at the Asian Games 2026. Option B is wrong because the medal in the news was a team result, not an individual one, and the Prime Minister's message names the team event. Option C is wrong because the squad that won this silver was an all-women team, not a mixed one. Option D is wrong because the discipline involved was golf and not archery. The careful reader will note that the single word that separates the right answer from the first wrong option is team, and that is the sort of distinction a paper setter builds a question on.

The correct answer is 2 October 2026. The campaign was conducted over a fortnight and was wound up on that date with a campus-wide cleanliness drive, a Swachhata Pledge and the felicitation of Safai Mitras. Option A, 17 September 2026, is wrong because that is the date on which the campaign began, not the day it ended, and this pair of dates is the classic trap in questions on such drives. Option C, 31 October 2026, is wrong because that is the date up to which the next phase, Special Campaign 6.0 on e-waste, continues. Option D is an unrelated national date. Aspirants should remember the start date, the closing date and the end date of the following campaign as three distinct facts.

The correct answer is the Wildlife Institute of India. The Bustard Recovery Programme is a joint effort of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, the Rajasthan Forest Department and the Wildlife Institute of India, with technical collaboration from the International Fund for Houbara Conservation and funding from National CAMPA. The Wildlife Institute of India also carries out the long-running telemetry work that identified the fenced grassland enclosures, covering roughly 200 sq km inside the Desert National Park, as the finest breeding habitat available to the species. The Botanical Survey of India is wrong because its work lies with plants, not with a bird recovery effort. The Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education is wrong as it is not named among the partners of this programme. The National Biodiversity Authority is wrong for the same reason, and it has no role in the breeding and rewilding steps described here.

The correct answer is Nitin Gadkari, who holds the Road Transport and Highways portfolio and will speak at the opening session on the first day. Ajay Tamta is wrong as the answer to this question, although he will also address the inaugural session; he serves as a Minister of State in the same ministry, not as its Cabinet Minister. Harsh Malhotra is wrong for exactly the same reason, as the other Minister of State in the ministry who will speak at the opening. Bhupender Yadav is wrong because he handles Environment, Forest and Climate Change, a different ministry altogether, and has no role in this conclave. Candidates should link the portfolio to the person: the Chintan Shivir is a Road Transport and Highways event, and its senior-most minister is the one who leads the inaugural session.

The correct answer is Ek Pedh Maa Ke Naam. The plantation drive was organised in the NTPC area under this initiative by the Department of Swasthavritta and Yoga, and senior faculty members, deans and scholars of the Institute took part in it. Option A, Nagar Van Yojana, is a separate urban forestry scheme and was not the initiative named for this drive. Option B, Green India Mission, is one of the national missions on climate change and again is not what the plantation drive came under here. Option C, Van Mahotsav, is the annual tree-planting festival observed in India, which makes it a plausible but incorrect choice in this question. The name to remember, linked to planting a tree in a mother’s name, is Ek Pedh Maa Ke Naam.
