Speaking at a Defence Conclave in New Delhi, Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh described the security landscape of the digital age as hybrid, high-tech and hyper warfare, and listed a 5D Security Threat made up of disinformation, destabilisation, disruption, deception and destruction.

The Bengaluru-based company signed a contract worth Rs 2,563 crore with the Ministry of Defence on 15 October 2026 for GSAT-7C, a dedicated communication satellite for the Indian Air Force.

Varunastra is launched from a warship and is meant to destroy submarines, and it was developed in India by the Naval Science and Technological Laboratory.

The terminal triples the number of flights the airport can handle and raises yearly passenger handling from 10 lakh to 35 lakh.

The Raksha Mantri told the conclave that of the ammunition variants in use with the defence forces, that many are now made within the country, which works out to more than 90 per cent self-reliance in ammunition variants.

The torpedo carries advanced manoeuvring features and can engage enemy submarines at long ranges.

The Nimmu-Padum-Darcha road, dedicated to the people of Ladakh at a cost of 2,500 crore rupees, brings a journey that earlier took 12 hours down to roughly three hours.

Describing the reforms in defence procurement, the Raksha Mantri said that this share of the modernisation budget has been set aside for buying from Indian industries, and that domestic firms are given priority through the Defence Acquisition Procedure and the Buy Indian-Indigenously Designed, Developed and Manufactured category.

The Rs 2,563 crore contract with New Space India Limited, Bengaluru, gives the Air Force a communication satellite of its own, designed, developed and manufactured in India, so that its aircraft and ground assets keep a protected, continuous link.

These water bodies are intended to supply irrigation water to farmers at the time of need in a high-altitude region where the farming season is short.
