Fisheries Investors and Exporters Conclave 2026 Set for Bhopal
The Fisheries Investors and Exporters Conclave 2026 is being held in Bhopal on 23 October 2026, and Madhya Pradesh will release its fisheries export policy.

Why in News
On 22 October 2026 the Centre and the Madhya Pradesh government announced the Fisheries Investors and Exporters Conclave 2026, to be held at Bhopal on 23 October 2026, where the state's fisheries investment and export guidelines will be released.
The Fisheries Investors and Exporters Conclave 2026 is being held on 23 October 2026 at Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. Two departments share the organising work: the Department of Fisheries of the Government of Madhya Pradesh and the Department of Fisheries under the Union Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying. The programme was announced on 22 October 2026.
Why the meeting is being held
The idea is to tie inland fish production to the links that come after it: processing plants, cold-chain storage, value addition and buyers abroad. Until now the sector has been judged mainly by how much fish it lands. Planners want it run as one value chain instead, so that a fisherman or a fish farmer earns a better price for the same catch and reaches a wider market. More than 1,000 fish farmers from different parts of Madhya Pradesh are expected, along with investors, exporters, fisheries cooperatives, Fish Farmer Producer Organisations (FFPOs), entrepreneurs, start-ups, processors, financial institutions and research bodies. A particular aim is to pull landlocked states into the circle of fisheries investment and export that coastal states have long occupied.
What is being released
- The Madhya Pradesh Fisheries Investment and Export Guidelines, 2026, a policy that covers hatcheries, fish seed and feed, reservoir and cage fisheries, aquatic animal health, processing, cold-chain infrastructure, logistics, value addition and market development.
- Standard Operating Procedures on the export potential of inland states.
- A virtual opening of Integrated Cage Culture Units.
- The administrative approval for the integrated development of reservoirs and Amrit Sarovars in the state, to be handed over by Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh, also known as Lalan Singh.
The numbers behind the sector
| Total fish production, 2024-25 | 197.75 lakh tonnes |
| Share from inland fisheries | 151.60 lakh tonnes, nearly three-fourths |
| Seafood exports, 2025-26 | Rs 73,890 crore |
| Water area in Madhya Pradesh | About 4.50 lakh hectares |
The Centre has notified Madhya Pradesh as a Reservoir Fisheries Cluster, which explains why a state with no coastline is hosting a conclave about exports. Its large spread of water gives it room to grow in cage and reservoir farming. Dr Mohan Yadav, Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, will attend, with Minister of State Prof. S. P. Singh Baghel and the state's Minister for Fisherman Welfare and Fisheries Development, Narayan Singh Pawar.
